Every year, there are new flooring trends in the world of interior design, and we’re here to let you know what flooring trends are on the horizon for 2023. Before you begin looking around for different flooring options, you should know which trends are current, as well as which ones would work best in the area you’re installing new floor in and the interior design plan you have in mind.

Flooring is the core of interior design; they have the power to influence the overall style and decoration of your building. The impact of a wonderfully designed space can often be ruined by an outdated or damaged floor. Here, we look ahead to the anticipated flooring design trends in 2023. Of course, personal taste and style, always take priority over trends. Nevertheless, we’ve compiled a list of current and anticipated trends in the hopes that they’ll serve as an inspiration for you.

Neutral Coloured Flooring

Throughout 2022 and now into 2023, neutral colours will continue to be favoured. Your creative input is less restricted in other design elements in your space such as accessories and wall colours by choosing neutral-coloured flooring.

Additionally, neutral colours give off a soft, cosy vibe that makes a space an inviting location to spend time in. Beiges and browns gained appeal in 2021–2022, and while they will still be fashionable choices in 2023, the trend for neutrals is shifting more toward cooler ashy tones.

Herringbone Flooring

Herringbone flooring became increasingly popular in 2022, and it appears that this is one design trend that will stick around for a while. It is available now in a variety of materials, including tiles and wood.

Herringbone flooring has a long history and was once a prestige and wealth symbol in ancient Rome and Greece. This kind of flooring is still regarded as a luxurious flooring choice and a design that will elevate any room you have it installed in and will particularly stand out and make a good first impression in any entryway or reception area. Herringbone flooring is a timeless option that will still look just as good over the years and additionally, it does an excellent job of hiding wear and tear, which is perfect for commercial buildings with heavy footfall.

Sustainable Flooring

As we become more conscious of our carbon footprint and how our purchasing decisions influence the environment, more of us opt for sustainable flooring options. We believe we will see a huge increase in the purchase of more sustainable and recycled flooring options in 2023.

At Mayfield Floors we are extremely passionate about doing our bit in helping the environment and reducing our carbon footprint. We work very closely with the team at Tarkett to ensure any material cut-off we don’t use at the end of our projects is recycled. Tarkett has collected more than 105,000 tonnes of flooring through ReStart® from 2010 to 2019 in Europe, Brazil and North America, so our work with them is very important to us.
